
I was mesmerized by the vibrant blues and warm oranges of the tiles on the Kalta Minor Minaret in Khiva.
Khiva still retains the atmosphere of the ancient Silk Road.

It is mandatory to cross the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan by train. During the overnight journey, I painted the desert through the window.
I had the chance to paint a traditional Uzbek yurt after being kindly invited to rest in one under the scorching sun.
