Malachite​

Sacred color in Islamic art

Green is a symbolic color in Islam, often associated with paradise. Historically, malachite has been used as a green pigment in Islamic art and architecture. With this in mind, I painted the Haji Ya’qub Mosque in Dushanbe with genuine malachite before continuing along the Pamir Highway.
