Basque Red

Cattle blood for wood protection

In the French Basque Country, cow’s blood was once used to protect wood from insects, giving many houses their characteristic red timber. Of course, I did not use blood. Instead, I painted a traditional Basque house, matching its historic blood-red tone as closely as possible.
