Bilbao blue
Traditional color of the city
Bilbao is my hometown and the place where this journey began. Here, a deeply cherished color, known as Bilbao Blue (Azul Bilbao), has long been associated with the city’s identity. Though not a pigment in the strict sense, it is traditionally worn in txapelas (Basque berets) and appears throughout local festivities. I mixed my watercolors to recreate this distinctive blue and painted Bilbao en plein air.
