Hematite

Iron mining area​

The Bizkaia Bridge stands in a former mining area near my hometown, where iron ore was once extracted and shipped to England. This industrial connection even influenced the red-and-white colors of Athletic Club. The bridge itself is painted in a hematite-like iron oxide color, honoring this industrial heritage. I painted it using English Red, an iron oxide pigment.
