Pigments
Red Ochre
Natural iron oxides
Colorado Provençal is a canyon of vivid red earth. I used the iron oxide-rich soil beneath my feet, mixed with gum arabic and glycerin, and applied it directly to the paper. For the trees, I added a touch of iron-based Prussian Blue, preserving coherence in the materials. Here, the soil becomes both subject and medium.
